API CLIENT ANGELA TINCHER SIGNS FOOTWEAR DEAL WITH 3N2 Fastpitch Softball Star to Compete Exclusively in 3N2 Cleats
BALTIMORE, MD —API Sports client Angela Tincher, a National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) All-Star and the 2008 NCAA Player of the Year, and softball footwear/apparel brand 3N2 have come to terms on an exclusive multi-year footwear endorsement deal, API and 3N2 have announced. Tincher will compete exclusively wearing 3N2’s ACCELERATE line of fastpitch softball cleats.
Specifically, under the terms of the deal, Tincher will trial, test and promote 3N2’s much-anticipated 2010 fastpitch cleat, the ACCELERATE w/ PROTO™ pitching toe. She also will also represent 3N2 at clinics, for public appearances and in a wide range of 3N2 marketing materials.
“It’s great to be associated with a brand that has a such a track record of supporting women's fastpitch,” Tincher said of 3N2. “Their association with National Pro Fastpitch was an important part of my decision to partner with them, as was their commitment to growing and improving the sport.”
Tincher, a three time All-American while at Virginia Tech, was selected third overall in the 2008 NPF draft by the Akron Racers. She posted a 12-11 record in her initial pro campaign and led the league with 157 strikeouts in only 129.1 innings pitched — a performance that landed her on the 2008 All-NPF Team. Currently playing professionally with LeoPalace 21 of the Japanese Pro League, Tincher has been invited to try out for the 2009 United States National Team when she returns home next week. She will once again play for the Racers after the National Team tryout camp.
While at Virginia Tech Tincher was a three-time ACC Pitcher of the Year selection and twice was named ACC Tournament MVP. She was named USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year and was one of the nominees for the ESPY as the top collegiate female athlete following a senior season in which she led the Hokies to their first Women’s College World Series appearance.
The highlight of Tincher’s collegiate career, however, was the no-hitter she tossed in a 1-0 exhibition win over the U.S. Olympic Softball Team. Her performance ended the U.S. Team’s 185-game pre-Olympic exhibition winning streak and firmly established Tincher as one of the top pitchers in the world.
3N2 CEO Sean Murphy is gratified that a player of Tincher’s stature recognizes 3N2 as a rising leader in the softball marketplace. “Angela is an amazing athlete with a large following who has only scratched the surface of what she can accomplish. Having a player of her caliber acknowledge our dedication to fastpitch as well as the quality of our product – and commit to a long-term partnership – speaks volumes about the performance value of 3N2 footwear.”
Added Tincher: “The quality and appearance of 3N2 products are impressive, and since they are a relatively new and up-and-coming brand, I'm excited to be able to enter the next phase of my softball career helping them grow.”
