FORMER NCAA LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE YEAR TO APPEAR AT API SPORTS CAMP Johns Hopkins and MLL Star Kyle Harrison to Highlight First Week of Camp at Park School
BALTIMORE, MD – Kyle Harrison, 2005 NCAA Lacrosse Player of the Year, will appear during the first session of the API Sports and Fitness Camp at the Park School of Baltimore next week. The former Johns Hopkins University All-American and Major League Lacrosse top overall draft pick will be on hand during one of the camp’s morning lacrosse sessions.
“One of the things that sets our camps apart is that we bring in elite coaches and athletes who the kids have heard of and look up to each week,” said API Sports President and CEO Scott Lowe. “We like to create an atmosphere that is enjoyable and memorable for both the campers and the athletes. It is exciting to have an athlete – and person – of Kyle’s caliber on hand for our first session of 2009.”
The API Sports and Fitness Camp at the Park School of Baltimore returns for its second year of operation after an exciting first year that included visits by Baltimore Orioles second baseman Brian Roberts and Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Derrick Mason. This year's camp has been extended to six weeks, providing campers the opportunity to sign up for an entire summer of sports fun and instruction or to participate in three-week blocks or on a weekly basis. Weekly sessions begin Monday, June 22 and run through the week of Monday, July 27.
The camp, which runs from 8:45 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily, introduces kids between the ages of 7 and 14 to a variety of sports, including baseball, basketball, football, hockey, lacrosse and soccer to name a few. A fun fitness component is included with the goal of helping kids understand that exercise can be fun and that participation and competitive sports is a means for them to live an active and healthy lifestyle well into their adult years. The program develops fundamental skills through drills, games, and contests, and ensures that they learn, improve, and maintain their focus – all while having a great time. For more information or to register for three or six-week sessions please go to www.APICamps.com. To sign up for one- or two-week sessions call 410.472.3500.
