MATT WIETERS TO APPEAR AT ORIOLES YOUTH BASEBALL CAMP AUGUST 10-13 Top Rookie Prospect and Former Oriole Chris Hoiles to Attend Camp at Park School
BALTIMORE, MD – Baltimore Orioles rookie sensation Matt Wieters will make an appearance at the official Orioles Baseball Camp, presented by API Sports and the Park School of Baltimore, to be held August 10-13, 2009, at the school’s Sugar Campus field complex. The camp, which is for kids between the ages of 7 and 16, also will feature a visit from former Orioles catcher Chris Hoiles.
In addition to the visits from Wieters and Hoiles, any child who attends the camp will get an opportunity to participate in a “Field Day” at Camden Yards on the morning of Saturday, September 19. The time and details of that event will be released at a later date. Campers also will receive an Orioles t-shirt, lunch each day from Chick-Fil-A, a Junior Orioles Dugout Club membership kit (with game tickets), a certificate of completion and a gift bag from the Orioles. There will be daily awards and prizes as well as photo and autograph opportunities (for participants only).
The camp costs $300 and runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day (Monday through Thursday). Participants will receive instruction in all aspects of the game, including pitching, hitting, infield play, outfield play, baserunning and game situations. There will be daily instructional stations as well as instructional games. Instruction will be provided to help players develop their individual fundamental skills and to introduce them to the concepts of team play, strategy and age-appropriate game rules and situations.
Please note that the Park School’s Sugar Campus is located at 1424 Hillside Rd., Stevenson, MD 21153. The camp is not being held at the school’s main Brooklandville campus.
